    • Honestly, that interpretation stretches both de Waal and Horowitz beyond what they actually show. De Waal described empathy, fairness, and cooperation as precursors to morality, not morality itself. He was careful to distinguish between instinctual social behaviors and the reflective, normative systems humans develop. To call those animal traits “morality” is to confuse building blocks with the fully formed structure.
As for dogs, Horowitz does not argue that they “know” fairness in the way humans do. She documents reactions to unequal treatment—like dogs refusing to perform a task if another is rewarded and they are not. But that is not evidence of moral judgment. It is evidence of frustration, competition, or simple expectation violation. The leap from behavioral reaction to moral awareness is enormous, and the data does not support it.
Two decades of working with Livestock Guarding Dogs shows the same: their reactions are practical, not ethical. They protect, they bond, they protest when treated unequally—but nowhere in their actions is there the reflective dimension of morality. They do not weigh right and wrong. They do not reason about justice. They respond to instincts honed by evolution to keep packs cohesive and individuals alive. If you were just a little smaller, your pets would not hesitate to eat you. That is not morality, that is survival instinct.
De Waal himself warned against anthropomorphism as much as against anthropodenial. To ascribe humanlike morality to dogs or primates is to project our categories onto behaviors that have different evolutionary functions. Animals have social instincts. Humans built morality out of them—but morality itself remains a human construction.

    • In regard to the article: 9/11 The Terrorists didn’t Envision 4.5 million Death.
Almost word by word, it can be said about Israel. Although atrocities against Palestinians, is ongoing for 130 years, in so far as land theft, murders and a million other devises of controls, humiliation and destruction, October/7 gave them the pretense of self defence, to complete the take over of East Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza.
Only a difference is that Oct/7 didn’t happen by “terrorists” (the only terrorist in the region is Israel. A bunch of European Jews came up with the idea of going to Palestine, to take it over).
On Oct/7 a total 1139 Jews were killed. It should be noted that the Palestinian resisters, did not intend on killing civilians, their aim was to capture soldiers (that is why they headed to two army bases) in order to exchange them for some of the 12,000 civilians that are held in inhumane condition by Israel.
Civilians got killed after Israeli army got there, with specific orders to kill everyone, in order to eliminate any Jew to be taken. That started the mayhem, which resulted in civilian death. We don’t know how many killed by the army compare to the resisters. Israel doesn’t agree to an investigation.

      Similarities to 9/11:

      • The Israeli media completely didn’t tell the truths but lied up to today.
      • Most Israelis do not know the scope of the devastation inflicted on Gaza, the killings and escalation of home demolitions in Jerusalem and West Bank.
      • The demonization of Palestinians.
      • Demonization of any Israeli or diaspora Jews, who dare to criticise.
      • Much escalation of surveillance of Israelis, Palestinians in the whole region and expansion of surveillance and targeting of groups or individuals anywhere.
      • Oct/7 also gave Israel the “permission” to devastate southern Lebanon and Syria, including an attempt to expand It’s land grab in these two countries.
      • Illegal bombardment of Iran.

In conclusion, Israel is benefiting greatly from the Palestinian resisters attack of Oct/7.
More restrictions on the Palestinians inside Israel, overall ethnic cleansing, more land grab, more sell of arms (which were and are tested on live population) around the world, more billions of dollars pouring in from wealthy Zionists, from Christian Zionists, from individuals and corporations around the world and more help from many governments.

      Jake Javanshir.

    • Hello! I haven’t heard from you for a while, so I’m glad you’re well and alive. Every terrorist act, no matter which side it comes from, is still a terrorist attack. You may be right that the Israeli media are lying, but they must know the truth somehow anyway. Israel is a violent, terrorist, and human-rights-violating state. And it is expansionist. All of this is happening while a patron-client network based on religion dictates the world’s affairs. If you spent the time you’re spending on writing in the discussion on some article instead, we would be glad.
