Mumino’s Saga – Episode 8 – A Desperate Race Against Time for Safety and Survival
november 2024 – The heartbreaking journey of Mumino continues. With the first 1000 euros that we managed to raise, Mumino’s wife was able to undergo the kidney surgery she desperately needed. However, just a few days ago, tragedy struck once more—Mumino’s wife suddenly passed away, most likely from complications related to her injuries. The family, already on the edge of survival, has been dealt yet another devastating blow.
Mumino, risking his life, returned from Kenya to share the heartbreaking news with his children and to lay his wife to rest. With no resources at hand, he faces the overwhelming challenge of giving his beloved partner a dignified farewell. The costs of the burial, approximately 500 USD, remain out of reach, while the outstanding bills for the surgery still need to be settled.
This tragic moment comes as another chapter in a series of seemingly endless struggles. From narrowly escaping violence in Somalia to the constant danger they faced during their displacement, Mumino and his family have been through it all—facing kidnapping threats, the chaos of COVID, and the desperate attempt to find refuge. Each time they have pushed forward, holding onto the hope that they could build a future free of fear. But each step of progress has been accompanied by further heartbreak.
Now, Mumino must also think of how to keep his children safe. The hope is to find a way to bring them out of harm’s way and reunite them in a place where they can finally have the peace and stability they deserve. But that hope is dim without the necessary support.
