Mumino’s Saga – Episode 7 – A Mother’s Desperate Battle for Survival
September 2024 – Mumino’s wife, who has been hiding with their two children in Somalia, is now facing a life-threatening health crisis. She has been rushed to the hospital due to kidney failure and requires an urgent operation. Unfortunately, the family’s dire financial situation makes it nearly impossible to afford the medical care she needs. The harsh reality is that without this operation, her chances of survival are slim.
While she battles for her life, her two young children are being cared for by a kind but struggling woman. This woman, despite barely having enough to feed her own children, has taken on the responsibility of looking after Mumino’s kids. Every day is a struggle for her to provide even the most basic necessities for these children, and the future is uncertain.
Mumino, meanwhile, is in Kenya, caught in the endless wait for his asylum card. The system, marred by corruption and inefficiency, offers little hope. Without this card, he is unable to secure a stable job and is forced to work long hours in a restaurant for a mere $140 a month. After paying $100 for rent, he is left with almost nothing to support himself, let alone his family. His days start early at 5:30 AM and end late at 10:30 PM, leaving him physically exhausted and emotionally drained. The stress of being unable to provide for his family or help his wife in her critical condition is overwhelming.
The situation is urgent. If Mumino’s wife does not get the medical attention she needs, the unthinkable could happen. The loss of their mother would leave the children not only without a parent but also without a secure future. What will happen to them in a country where they have no one to turn to?
