Mira is a transgender woman who fled from Yemen to Egypt in search of safety. Two months ago, she left her hometown in Yemen and arrived in Egypt, but her struggle for security continues. Life in Egypt has proven to be challenging as well. Mira is still trying to establish stability and find peace amidst constant upheaval. She moves from house to house, worrying about how to afford rent and weekly groceries. There has been donations made, but it is not enough to keep her balanced enough, to do it on her own. As her status as a refugee makes it difficult to secure employment.
In Mira’s previous stories, you could follow her tumultuous journey toward a safer life. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, coming from an anti-LGBTQ environment, she has faced many hardships. This struggle has been ongoing for most of her life and only began to improve when she started planning to move to safer country. That remains the goal, to help her get there.
Currently, Mira is still in Egypt and facing yet another challenge. Because not everywhere they are also not accepting towards the LGBTQ community. She is receiving threats from people who know about her sexual identity. On top of that, her family, whom she has been fleeing from, has discovered her location. This has added even more discomfort and stress to her already difficult situation. At this moment, she is looking to move rapidly to a safer unknown location.
We know Mira as a kind-hearted and motivated individual who simply wants to live in peace without needing to live in survival mode every day. Can you help her on her journey to safety?
