Mira is a young, motivated, and kindhearted LGBTQ+ member who has been on a journey to flee from her unsafe country and circumstances since last year. Currently, she is living in an apartment in Egypt, still trying to make ends meet. Unfortunately, Egypt is also not a very safe place for trans people. Nevertheless, it represents a step forward in her journey.
Mira works, but the salary in Egypt is extremely low—she only earns about $80 per month. She also receives some help from friends abroad. Donations have been a lifeline, helping her cover her basic needs. However, it is not enough for her to pursue safer travel to a country where she can live freely and securely.
Mira is attending therapy to support her mental health and cope with her current circumstances. Despite her resilience, it is incredibly difficult for her to live as a trans woman in an Arabic country where the norms and values starkly oppose her identity. She needs the freedom to live as her true self.
This is why the ultimate goal is to help Mira travel to a safer country, such as one in Europe or the United States.
